What does it mean to be a “real band,” anyway? Kings Kaleidoscope’s trajectory from leading worship in a church on Sundays to touring America by bus playing rock clubs has been long, winding, and unorthodox.

Matt

So, you spent four or five years developing as a stationary church worship band, but then you became an artist on Tooth & Nail Records. That was an ahead of the curve and rare transition. I was there to observe it, but how do you reflect on that?

Chad

Well, I left the church with like half a record done. Actually, most of a record done. And it would have gone out on their label, but the church was collapsing. And Tooth & Nail, they were the ones who inherited all the church projects. They bought out Mars Hill Music, so it kind of made sense that they would have our first record along with all the EPs we did at the church.
